GWG teams up with GAA for a special presentation by the Greene County Sheriff's Office

Members and guests present at the April 12, 2016, joint GAA/GWG meeting were presented with an interesting and informative message via two of Greene County's finest policemen: Lieutenant Lee Stancill and Investigator Eddie Sanders. This impressive duo related accounts of various scams currently being perpetrated around the country and even in our own community. We were encouraged not to hesitate in contacting local law enforcement anytime something appears or sounds "not quite right."
I wish all of you could have been there. Like me, I think you would have come away comforted by the knowledge that dedicated men like these are looking out for us.
Members of GWG and GAA gather for the Greene County Sheriff's Department
presentation on protection from fraud and other crime.
Preparing for the program.

Lieutenant Lee Stancil reports on the crime rate in the county.

Investigator Eddie Sanders adds more information about fraud
perpetrated on citizens by phone and the internet.

A question and answer session was opened to GWG and GAA members.

Some of the methods used by fraud perpetrators are the GreenDot
MoneyPak and VISA cards they often ask targeted people to buy.

As always, there were some great snacks brought by members for the group and guests.

GWG members present were Barb Griffiths, Linda Wagner, Kathy Wright, Boots Coffed, Jenny Bates, Maureen Young, Helen vonRichthofen, Jeanne Herrero, and Pete Muzyka.

Note:  It was great seeing Pete's wife, Jewel, at the meeting.

Mention was also made of the beautiful Abandoned Rural America spread in the latest issue of Lake Oconee Living Magazine.  If you have yet to see and read it, pick up a copy today.
